Enrolment Information

Our Enrolment Process

As a NSW Community Preschool, we are funded by the NSW Department of Education - Start Strong Program. These funding guidelines require community preschools to prioritise children for 600 hours in their year before school (2 days per week)

We welcome children in our local community from 3 years of age, however, we do have a priority of access structure.

This is as follows:

  • Children aged 4 years when starting with us
  • Children with additional needs
  • Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children
  • Families with a health care card (information here)

It is essential to note this information on your waitlist form or get in touch with us to update this if your circumstances change.

ENROLMENT STEP 1 - WAITLIST REGISTRATION

  • Complete our Waitlist Form below which automatically saves to our childcare management system.
Please note, registration on our waitlist does NOT guarantee an offer of enrolment.
  • Successful offers of enrolment depend on length of waitlist, priority placements as per our enrolment policy and NSW Department of Education Start Strong funding guidelines.

ENROLMENT STEP 2 - CONFIRMATION OF INTEREST AND OFFER OF ENROLMENT

  • We will contact the families of all eligible children on our waitlist via a phone call from our admin team member, to confirm your interested in an enrolment for the following year. The timeline for this varies but new families should expect to have received a call by the end of Term 3.
  • Once you specify your required attendance pattern and clarify your waitlist details are still up to date, we will confirm your successful enrolment via email where you will be asked to complete your enrolment form, provide requested documentation and pay our administration and association fee to secure your spot.

ENROLMENT STEP 3 - ORIENTATION

  • Prior to orientation you will be sent our family handbook and social story via email.
  • All new families will be invited to attend an orientation sessions, where parents and children can visit with us, meet the educators, explore our environment and meet some new friends.
  • These are usually held over a 2 week period in early Term 4, where you can book in for a maximum of 2 sessions during the morning or afternoon. You will be asked to finalise any documentation during your visit in regards to your child's enrolment.
  • You will have the opportunity to purchase a KVPS hat, shirt or jumper during your visit which will be invoiced to your account (purchases can be made all year round via the office).

ENROLMENT STEP 4 - OWNA SET UP

  • We use OWNA as our childcare management system which is primarily used for signing your child in and out of preschool each day.
  • You will receive an email during Term 4 of your log in details, pin code and instructions on how to download the parent app. Please note - this email will come directly from OWNA.
  • Your pin code will be used on our iPads in the foyer for the signing in and out process.

ENROLMENT STEP 5 - PRESCHOOL DETAILS AND COMMENCEMENT

  • You will receive and email with further details on the preschool such as the gate code to enter, what to do on your first day and starting dates.
Please note - we do honour staff development days similar to schools but we do not always follow this schedule exactly.
  • Enrolments commence in early February.

STARTING PRESCHOOL

  • We recognise that you know your child best, and encourage you spend time on the first few days getting to know your educators, and engaging in preschool activities with your child. This will help you both to build trust and feelings of security in this new environment.
  • Our Educators are experienced and knowledgeable in supporting children to settle into preschool.
  • We encourage you to chat regularly to our educators about your child, and as we get to know you and your family, we can actively support development and shared learning goals at preschool!
